About me
HI, I'm Jenn! I am a “Scrunchy” Chicago mom of two who loves all things pregnancy, birth, lactation, babies. . . you get the idea :) I began my journey here as a student at DePaul University in Chicago. I earned my Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology with a premed concentration. My research focus was infant gut development and its correlation to autoimmune disease. I love to learn!
Throughout my first prenatal journey and at the birth of my firstborn, I learned I knew very little about this life, and things changed for me, most importantly, my life path changed. I took a moment to breathe and recenter. From there, I had the opportunity to support dozens of new mothers on their prenatal and birth journeys. I supported dozens of new mothers in lactation. I was able to further my research into what became relevant to my life experience, and I discovered myself.
I learned quickly that mothers need to be nurtured as much as they become the nurturers. Mothers deserve unbiased and accurate information when making decisions surrounding theirs and their families’ lives. I learned that our modern day world makes it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to balance *everything*, and that we live to uphold unreasonable standards. It is here where I find my passion. I am here to help squash the fear of delivery, to smooth out the transition from maidenhood to motherhood, to ease the postpartum heaviness and the weight of the fourth trimester, and to give parents room to breathe. I hope to give parents the presence of mind to find the beauty and sacred space that is birth, the transition, and the change. I promise, there is beauty and wonder in it all!
Birth is beautiful. Birth is powerful. Birth is transformative. Birth is natural. Birth is many things, and it is never the same for any two individuals. There is no “wrong or right” way to have your baby. That being said, many parents have a vision of what their birth will look like and many will have specific wishes. It is my goal to help you check off as many boxes as you possibly can throughout your birth journey. In our talks, we will discuss as much or as little as you please, and I promise you here and now – “too much is never enough!”
Life and Birth is never “all or nothing”. I set myself apart from industry standards in a few ways:
- Below market cost
- Continuous and unlimited prenatal support
- In person labor support from the ONSET of labor or when my presence is requested
- In person support at the beginning of induction
- No extra hourly charges for “long labors”
- No max hours for in person labor support
- No cap on postpartum and lactation support
Doula care here will fill the foundational cracks of pregnancy and the fourth trimester that are too often experienced in this country. I would be honored to journey with you!
