Birth is fundamental. birth is essential.

M.U.M.S. Mission

We are advocates and allies of POC and the LGBTQ community

All birth is natural

Birth is not something that is done to you, it is something that you do and accomplish. At M.U.M.S. Doula and Lactation LLC I am working to put an end the birth trauma cycle. I believe it is not enough to ensure birth is manageable. I believe birthing people need not suffer. Birth should not be a frightening event, rather one that is anticipated and prepared for. The transition from maidenhood to motherhood is powerful and transformative. I know that doula and lactation support is essential, and I will do my very best to help each family achieve their ideal birth, transformation, and transition into parenthood.

All birth is natural

All birth is natural

I do not hold space for judgment in regards to pain management, induction, cesarean birth, and the like. I do not submit to the idea that the only "natural birth" is unmedicated. I believe that birthers follow different paths, have unique journeys, and share a common goal: birth. Whether your birth is spontaneous, induced, or cesarean.. Whether you opt for IV pain medication, an epidural, hypnobirthing, hydrotherapy, or bypass it all.. Whether your birth is at home, in a hospital, at a birthing center, or in a  car, all births are equal and natural. I support all birthing people.

Birthing people of color and their babies carry a 25% higher mortality risk than their white counterparts. It is imperative to have an active ally and advocate on your support team. I am more than happy to discuss what this looks like in labor and delivery when we get to that point.

For the LGBTQ community, I make sure that the tone of the room is appropriate for the family dynamic. I use appropriate pronouns, and we encourage the medical team to do the same.
